The Web Development Process
Wondering how the process even works? Here are the five steps to your new site.
Step One
Initial meeting and hashing out the details
I’ll meet with you to determine what you’re really looking to get out of your website. This is the best time to dream and brainstorm about what you would like to see. We’ll discuss everything from what you would love in your website to your absolute requirements.
Step Two
Wireframing and Design
Developing the site begins with mocking up the visual design and functionality. It starts with basic wireframe sketches and moves toward more concrete visual represenations. It’s where the roadmap gets put together. And of course, you’ll be regularly updated in the process.
Step Three
Development and Content Gathering
Once the plan is in place, it’s time to get developing. Ideally, you’re site will get built on Diatonic’s development server which you’ll be able to view as the process moves along. Different requirements can take different development approaches. This is also the best time for you to gather up your content for inclusion onto the site – text, images, videos, bios, quotes, forms, etc.
Step Four
Testing
Every site will go through performance and functional testing, including testing any 3rd-party software integrations, like forms, analytics and purchase functionality. In many cases the process of development is a circular workflow, alternating between testing and further development. Once the site is working and you’re happy with the results, it’s time to think about the launch.
Step Five
Finishing Touches and Launch
Final considerations include search engine optimizations, domain names, and hosting servers. I’ll gladly help set up all the requirements for you to get online. We’ll get your site indexed on search engines, show it to the world, and watch the traffic grow!
